AI Threat Detection From Drone Imagery

Safe Pro's patented SPOTD technology enables rapid analysis of drone imagery to identify and map potential explosive hazards, reducing reliance on manual review while improving mission speed and operator safety. The platform can identify more than 150 types of explosive threats and objects of interest, and its AI dataset comprised over 2.9 million analyzed images, more than 54,328 identified threats, and coverage of approximately 37,900 acres in Ukraine as of August 6, 2026.

NODE Edge Compute Brings AI Into the Field

The company's NODE edge compute system runs SPOTD in the field, operating without the need for connectivity. The backpack-sized NODE-X converts drone video into detailed 2D and 3D models, generating orthomosaics, vegetation height, terrain slope, and digital surface maps that incorporate detected threats, delivering rapid situational awareness where cloud processing is not available.

Expanding Work With the U.S. Army and Primes

Safe Pro reported that multiple U.S. Army subcontract awards for its AI-powered threat detection and mapping software drove its second quarter 2026 growth, supported by relationships with leading U.S. Government prime contractors and hardware manufacturers. The company also completed its participation in the U.S. Army's Project Convergence Capstone 6, an invite-only future warfare experiment in which soldiers trained on pairing small drones with its software.

1,336 Percent Q2 Revenue Growth

Revenue for the second quarter ended June 30, 2026 reached $1,332,074 against $92,753 in the same quarter of 2025, an increase of 1,336 percent, and revenue for the first half reached $2,552,203 against $277,555 a year earlier. Safe Pro closed the second quarter with a cash balance of $10,230,514 and working capital of $10,965,737.

Three Business Lines Serving Global Markets

Safe Pro Group serves commercial, government, law enforcement, and humanitarian markets through three businesses designed to work in synergy: Safe Pro AI software, Safe-Pro USA protective gear, and Airborne Response drone-based services. The company sees additional potential for its technology in post-conflict reconstruction, rebuilding, and rare earth mineral and agricultural reclamation efforts.

Experienced Leadership Team and Board

Safe Pro Group is led by Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Dan Erdberg, alongside President Christopher Todd, founder of Airborne Response, and Chief Technology Officer Pravin Borkar, founder and president of Safe-Pro USA. The board of directors includes retired U.S. Army leaders Lieutenant General John E. Miller, Colonel Lee Van Arsdale, and Major General Arthur T. Dean.

Digging Deeper

Safe Pro Group Inc. (Nasdaq: SPAI) develops advanced artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, and applied computer vision software for small object detection. The company builds specialized datasets for government, military, humanitarian and non-governmental, enterprise, and first responder customers, using drone-based platforms to collect the visual information those datasets are made from. Its award-winning and patented computer vision technology performs autonomous identification and detection of landmines and unexploded ordnance, abbreviated UXO, in drone-based imagery.

The software architecture is deliberately flexible, running both as a crowd-sourced model on the cloud powered by Amazon Web Services and locally on the edge for rapid processing of visual data in places where connectivity is unavailable. Safe Pro has an expanding network of strategic investors and drone industry partners for technology integration, and it is engaging on a strategic plan to work directly with the Army, Air Force, Navy, Special Operations Command, the Marines, and prime contractors.

Three business lines sit under the corporate umbrella and address customers from different angles. Safe Pro AI supplies the software and the datasets, Airborne Response supplies mission-critical drone services using U.S. Government-compliant small uncrewed aircraft systems (UASs), and Safe-Pro USA manufactures advanced, high-performance ballistic protective products in the United States. The combination is a layered approach to safety for defense and security, integrating artificial intelligence and remote sensing, mission-critical drone services, and advanced Made in the USA ballistic protective products.

The sections that follow examine the threat environment Safe Pro is built for, its SPOTD technology and the patent behind it, the Ukraine deployments that produced its dataset, how the software reaches customers in the cloud and at the tactical edge, the drone services and ballistic protection businesses, the company's government traction and capital position, and the leadership team.

Safe Pro's thesis begins with Ukraine, which is proving that the future of war will feature a proliferation of lethal small drones, landmines, anti-personnel devices, and cluster munitions, with contamination reaching far beyond any single conflict. Nearly 60 countries are contaminated by landmines or unexploded ordnance, according to Landmine Monitor, threatening civilians and holding back economic development in agriculture, oil and gas, rare earths exploration, and industrial production. Modernized military mission planning and force protection methodologies have to adapt to those increased explosive threats with real-time detection capabilities, which is the requirement Safe Pro's software is built to meet.

The resulting commercial opening is a massive opportunity to leverage AI and drone technology to dramatically improve situational awareness, in two directions at once. The first of those is rapid visual threat awareness for the individual soldier and vehicles including autonomous ground vehicles (UGVs) on the battlefield, delivered fast enough to change a decision. The second is a longer-term opportunity in law enforcement and public safety operations at large venues and events, where a comparable detection problem appears in a civilian setting.

The humanitarian dimension of the same problem is measured in casualties reported across five regions of the world every year. Explosive devices expose hundreds of thousands of civilians to potentially life-threatening injuries and death daily, with casualties actively reported in Colombia, Mexico, and Venezuela in the Americas; Bangladesh, the Philippines, and Thailand in Asia and the Pacific; Croatia, Ukraine, and Turkey in Europe and the Caucasus; Algeria, Egypt, and Kuwait in the Middle East; and Angola, Niger, Nigeria, and Somalia in Sub-Saharan Africa. That geographic spread is what gives a software product built for one conflict a market that extends well past it.

Safe Pro Object Threat Detection, shortened to SPOTD, is a patented AI-powered imagery analysis platform that analyzes imagery and video from virtually any drone to detect, classify and map explosive threats and other objects of interest, identifying more than 150 types of landmines and UXO in a fraction of a second and delivering real-time actionable intelligence for mission-critical situational awareness. The platform turns drone-based video data into detailed 2D and 3D models, including orthomosaics, vegetation height, terrain slope, and digital surface maps that all incorporate the detected threats. An orthomosaic is a single large image assembled from many overlapping aerial photographs and corrected for distortion, so distances measured on it correspond to distances on the ground.

The platform is built on one of the world's largest datasets of UXO, collected over more than three years of real-world usage in Ukraine, and its state-of-the-art AI algorithms learn from evolving conditions, which allows SPOTD to recognize threats with newly trained models produced by near real-time feedback loops. Commercially, it is offered as an AI-as-a-Service and Software-as-a-Service model designed for maximum flexibility across defense, humanitarian, and commercial applications. Processing is drone hardware agnostic, so a customer can use commercially available off-the-shelf (COTS) aircraft it already owns. The proprietary dataset supporting the platform comprised over 2.9 million analyzed images, more than 54,328 identified threats, and coverage of approximately 37,900 acres as of August 6, 2026.

Intellectual property protection for that capability rests on a granted patent covering the core detection method. The United States Patent and Trademark Office granted patent number US 12,146,729 on November 19, 2024 for "Systems and Methods for Detecting and Identifying Explosives," confirming all 21 claims in the company's application. Those claims cover the rapid autonomous detection, identification, and labeling of explosives in orthomosaic images using AI processing of imagery from an unmanned aerial vehicle, and the patent grants intellectual property protections for the drone image analysis and reporting software platform until 2043. Safe Pro has also filed internationally under the Patent Cooperation Treaty, administered by the World Intellectual Property Organization, which provides a single route for seeking protection across its member states while the national and regional patent offices decide whether to grant, and it has completed national phase patent applications in 47 jurisdictions.

Ukraine, the breadbasket of Europe, is the world's largest minefield, and its agricultural sector has suffered more than $50 billion in losses since the beginning of the large-scale invasion, according to the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council. Safe Pro has spent more than three years there in battlefield testing conducted by government and humanitarian aid organizations, and that work produced the real-world UXO dataset the software is trained on. The World Food Programme and the United Nations Development Programme selected the technology after competitive testing against new and existing technologies, and the tooling built around it has been shaped by the people using it, covering data reporting and quality assurance, interactive mapping, foliage density layering, integration with data management platforms, and real-time detection at the edge without connectivity.

The speed advantage the deployment demonstrated is the number that carries most of the commercial argument for the software. Across an image set of 499,172 drone images, a human GIS analyst working at an estimated three minutes per image would need just under 25,000 analyst hours, while Safe Pro's technology processed each image in 0.2 seconds for a total of about 27.7 hours of machine time, a ratio of 900 to one. The cumulative figures run to more than 2.9 million analyzed images and more than 54,328 identified threats across approximately 37,900 acres of Ukrainian land.

What all of that looks like on a single survey is concrete enough to follow detection by detection. In one battlefield survey the platform processed drone imagery into an orthomosaic with detections and a surveyed area polygon, identifying confirmed and suspected explosive ordnance that included 93 TM-62 anti-tank mines, two anti-personnel mines, three detonators, and one POMZ-2M. Elsewhere in the same body of work, a two-hectare drone flight covering 1,150 images produced a map on which the AI located a PFM-1 mine in 0.2 seconds, with the platform labeling threat types including 82mm mortars, MON-50 and PMN-2 mines, BM-26 rockets, RGD-5 grenades, and POMZ devices.

Safe Pro delivers the same detection capability through two processing paths, chosen according to whether the user has connectivity. Secure, cloud-based hyper-scalable processing runs as SpotlightAI, powered by Amazon Web Services (AWS), and the company works with AWS closely enough to have been the subject of an AWS-sponsored case study and to have appeared in the AWS Public Sector Summit 2024 keynote.

Real-time local processing on the tactical edge runs as SpotlightAI OnSight, which operates without the need for connectivity, and the NODE edge compute system is the hardware that carries it into the field. The backpack-sized NODE-X converts drone video into detailed 2D and 3D models, generating orthomosaics, vegetation height, terrain slope, and digital surface maps that incorporate detected threats, which delivers situational awareness in places beyond the reach of cloud processing. Both paths sit inside a patented SPOTD ecosystem organized around two customer groups, commercial and humanitarian demining on one side and defense and national security on the other.

The use cases follow those two customer groups closely, with a different buyer and a different urgency behind each. On the defense side, Safe Pro is pursuing modernized force protection and operational planning for the U.S. Department of Defense through integration of SPOTD technology into existing military platforms such as the Tactical Assault Kit, which delivers actionable intelligence onto soldier-carried and vehicle-mounted wireless connected devices already widely used across the U.S. armed forces. More than three years of battlefield usage in Ukraine is what allows that integration to enhance real-time situational awareness, security, and safety for deploying forces immediately. On the humanitarian, commercial, and public safety side, the applications run to enhanced global demining methodologies and training programs supporting civilian safety and economic redevelopment, including Ukraine's agriculture and rare earth exploration, post-conflict reconstruction of bridges, roads, and the power grid, and security at mass gatherings and large venues such as sports facilities. The benefit across all of them is a substantial reduction in analysis time compared with traditional human-based methodologies, along with rapid data sharing.

Safe Pro's contract activity through early August 2026 came from U.S. Government programs, end users, and defense prime contractors. The company was awarded a $1.3 million U.S. Army subcontract to integrate real-time AI landmine detection into unmanned ground vehicles, and it has been contracted to provide U.S. Army edge AI operational support for an airfield exercise, expanding its role in force protection applications. It is executing on a $742,000 U.S. Army award covering rapid delivery of AI edge processing NODE units and Red Cat Black Widow™ drones, and it delivered on a $1 million subcontract for an AI edge processing solution for the U.S. Government in the first quarter of 2026. On August 3, 2026 the company announced a further U.S. Government subcontract for its patented AI threat mapping and drone package, valued at approximately $730,000 before the exercise of additional options, the fourth recent U.S. Government award for its patented AI technology and one that expands its installed base. Three days later it announced a $780,000 purchase order from a new Department of War prime contractor, the fifth recent U.S. Government award for the same technology. Together those two awards represent approximately $1.5 million of U.S. Government subcontract value for the AI threat mapping and drone package, before the exercise of additional options. On August 18, 2026 the company announced a further subcontract and purchase order valued at approximately $180,000 in support of a U.S. Department of State program, covering five hardened GPU powered laptop computers configured with its Spotlight OnSight software together with three years of annual software licensing and AI model upgrades.

Taken together, that award activity carried Safe Pro's 2026 AI-related orders past $5 million in aggregate contract value as of early August, a figure that represents contract award values and may not yet be fully recognized as revenue. Through early August 2026 the company had received eight contracts for its AI edge compute and rapid imagery processing technologies, covering applications that use both aerial drones and ground-based autonomous systems, and its AI software has been selected by the U.S. Army, the U.S. Air Force and multiple defense prime contractors seeking solutions for mapping threats, enhancing situational awareness, and mission planning applications.

Evaluation events run alongside those awards and feed the same contracting pipeline from a different direction. Safe Pro completed its participation in the U.S. Army's Project Convergence Capstone 6, an invite-only future warfare experiment the Army runs with allied nations to assess emerging battlefield technologies. Over ten days at Fort Irwin, the company trained soldiers on pairing small drones with its threat detection and mapping software, its NODE-X and OnSight products featured in multiple missions before Army command staff, and soldiers used NODE-X to analyze drone imagery, map threats including landmines and cluster munitions, and share that data across Army planning platforms. The exercise exists to evaluate new technologies and generate operational feedback for the Army's future modernization efforts.

A research collaboration signed in August 2026 broadened that Army engagement further, when Safe Pro entered into a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with the United States Army Engineer Research and Development Center, the Corps of Engineers' research and development organization, under a project entitled Unified Situational Intelligence: UAS Enabled Data for Operational, Disaster, and Mission Critical Analysis. The agreement covers AI-powered object detection and technologies associated with uncrewed aerial systems and sensors, used to collect data and produce analytic products that support situational awareness and planning, with the emphasis falling on dual use solutions of value to both the warfighter and civil authorities in the general realm of engineering geospatial sciences.

Revenue for the second quarter ended June 30, 2026 reached $1,332,074 against $92,753 in the same quarter of 2025, an increase of 1,336 percent, and revenue for the first half reached $2,552,203 against $277,555 a year earlier. The increase came substantially from Safe Pro AI's expanding business relationship with a government contractor, under which the subsidiary supplies its AI-powered video and imagery analysis system together with hardware systems, embedded software licenses, training and support, and technical deliverables. Quarterly sales in the Safe Pro AI subsidiary surged over 3,084 percent compared with the same quarter of 2025 to reach $934,062, split between $402,459 of product sales and $531,603 of services, and driven by new U.S. Army-contracted sales of the AI-powered, edge compute Navigation, Observation & Detection Engine, known as NODE, along with services and support revenue. AI gross margin reached 75 percent for the second quarter, covering the software and edge compute product lines, and consolidated gross profit margin for the quarter came in at 64.0 percent against 34.0 percent a year earlier. The company received four government contracts in the second quarter, highlighted by its NODE edge-based threat detection and mapping solution and services in support of the U.S. Army and a Small Business Innovation Research award from the U.S. Air Force for AI dataset development for use in airfield operations.

Capability extended from the air to the ground during the same period, when Safe Pro AI received an award from a U.S. defense prime contractor to integrate its real-time AI-powered explosive threat detection technology onboard next-generation autonomous unmanned ground vehicles for on-the-move battlefield operations. The company also advanced its technology development efforts demonstrating the integration of its new InFlight embeddable real-time AI-powered threat detection package, which can natively process real-time video onboard a drone at the tactical edge and deliver live threat data directly into mission planning ecosystems such as the U.S. Army's Tactical Assault Kit.

Safe Pro closed the second quarter with a cash balance of $10,230,514 and working capital of $10,965,737. Long-term debt is minimal and consists of a $146,000 U.S. Small Business Administration note carrying interest at 3.75 percent and maturing in 2050, set against a growing, high-margin revenue stream. The company also used its cash position to repurchase stock during the period, and it announced on August 14, 2026 that its Board-approved common stock repurchase program had been completed during the second quarter, with a total of 637,084 shares purchased in the open market over the life of the program, of which 474,630 shares were purchased during the six months ended June 30, 2026.
