Dr. Simon Kukes
Chief Executive Officer and Director
Mr. Kukes has served as the principal of his investment company, SK Energy LLC, since 2013. From 2005 to 2013, he served as CEO of Samara-Nafta, which partnered with Hess Corporation to develop oil and gas assets. Prior to that, he was President and CEO of Tyumen Oil Company from 1998 until it combined with British Petroleum in 2003 to create TNK-BP. Following his time at TNK, Mr. Kukes served as CEO and Chairman of Yukos Oil Company. From 1979 to 1987, he was the Technical Director of oil-refining and petro-chemistry for Phillips Petroleum, and in 1987 became Vice-President over marketing and business development for Amoco. Mr. Kukes also previously served on the Board of Directors of publicly-traded Amarin Corporation and Parker Drilling Company. In 1999, the Wall Street Journal named Mr. Kukes as one of the Top 10 Central European Executives. He is also the recipient of the American Society of Competition Development Award for Leadership and was named by The Financial Times and PricewaterhouseCoopers as one of the 64 most respected business leaders in the world in 2013. Mr. Kukes received his BS in Chemical Engineering from the University for Chemical Technology and his PhD in Physical Chemistry from the Academy of Sciences in Moscow, followed by a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Rice University in Houston. He has published over 60 scientific papers and two books on the oil and gas industry, and is the holder of more than 130 patents, primarily in Oil and Petrochemical Processing.
J. Douglas Schick
President
Mr. Schick has over twenty years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Schick co-founded American Resources, Inc., a Houston, Texas-based privately-held oil & gas investment, development and operating company and served as Chief Executive Officer (from August 2017 to the present) and as Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Business Development (from August 2013 to August 2017). From 2011 to 2013 Mr. Schick consulted several private oil & gas companies on capital raising, M&A and finance. He was Vice President of Finance for Highland Oil and Gas, a private equity-backed E&P company headquartered in Houston, Texas (2011). He served as Manager of Planning and then Director of Planning at Houston, Texas-based Mariner Energy, Inc. (from December 2006 until its merger with Apache Corp. in December 2010), and in various roles of increasing responsibility in finance, planning, M&A, treasury and accounting at The Houston Exploration Company, ConocoPhillips and Shell Oil Company (from 1998 to 2006). Mr. Schick holds a BBA in Finance from New Mexico State University and an MBA with a specialization in Finance from Tulane University.
Clark Moore
EVP & General Counsel
Mr. Moore has over twenty years of experience representing companies across various industries, with over fifteen years focused on oil and gas. Prior to co-founding the Company in 2011, from 2005 to 2011 Mr. Moore served as Corporate Counsel to Erin Energy Corporation as a member of the founding team that took the company public on the NYSE Amex in 2006 and later sold a controlling interest of the company to CAMAC Energy Holdings Limited in 2010. Prior to Erin Energy, Mr. Moore was an attorney at the law firms of Venture Law Group and Heller Ehrman LLP, both located in Menlo Park, California, where he practiced general corporate and transactional law since 2000. Mr. Moore graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and earned his Juris Doctor degree with Distinction from Stanford Law School.
Paul Pinkston
Chief Accounting Officer
Mr. Pinkston brings over 20 years of accounting, compliance, and financial reporting expertise to the Company, with extensive experience in handling and managing corporate compliance, financial reporting and audits, and other regulatory functions for companies engaged in the oil and gas industry in the U.S. Prior to joining the Company on December 1, 2018, from August 2017 to February 2018, Mr. Pinkston served as Corporate Controller and Secretary for Trecora Resources (NYSE: TREC), a Sugar Land, Texas based petrochemical manufacturing and customer processing service company. Prior to joining Trecora Resources, from May 2013 to June 2017, Mr. Pinkston served in various roles of increasing authority and responsibility at Camber Energy, Inc. (NYSE American: CEI), a Houston, Texas-based oil and gas exploration and production company, including as Camber Energy’s Chief Accounting Officer, Secretary and Treasurer (August 2016 to June 2017), and as its Director of Financial Reporting (May 2013 to August 2016). Before joining Camber Energy, Mr. Pinkston served as a Senior Consultant with Sirius Solutions LLLP, where he performed accounting, audit and finance consulting services (January 2006 to May 2013), as a Corporate Auditor performing internal audits for Baker Hughes, Inc. (January 2002 to November 2005), and as a Senior Auditor, conducting public and private audits, at Arthur Andersen LLP (from September 1998 to November 2001). Mr. Pinkston received a Bachelor of Business Administration (Finance and Marketing) degree from the University of Texas and earned a Master of Business Administration (Accounting) degree from the University of Houston. Mr. Pinkston is a Certified Public Accountant registered in the State of Texas.
Jody D. Crook
Business Development & Land Consultant
Mr. Crook currently serves as principal of Tenet Advisory Group LLC, a consulting firm providing, land, regulatory and business development services with offices in Houston, Texas. He also served as Managing Partner of Bronze Four Resources, LLC, a contract operating firm with significant drilling, completion and production experience in the Anadarko and Arkoma Basins. Prior to forming Tenet and BronzeFour Resources in 2015, Mr. Crook served as Senior Vice President of Acquisitions for Jones Energy in Austin, Texas. He joined Jones Energy in June of 2004 as Land Manager and served the company for the next 10 years in positions of growing responsibility eventually leading all commercial activity within the company. His roles included creating the company’s initial Land Department and leading the Company’s Arkoma Group as Vice President of Operations. During Mr. Crook’s tenure, Jones Energy closed transactions totaling over $1 Billion. Prior to Jones Energy, he held the position of Senior Landman at Southwestern Energy (from December 2001 to June 2004) where he was responsible for Land and Business Development covering numerous areas that included South Louisiana, West Texas, East Texas, New Mexico and Montana. Mr. Crook began his career in Enron Corp’s Analyst and Associates Program (from January 2000 to November 2001) where he served as an analyst within Houston Pipeline and the Global LNG Group. Mr. Crook graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a BBA in Petroleum Land Management and Finance and he also holds an MBA from the University of Texas. He currently serves on the Board of Advisors for the Price College of Business at the University of Oklahoma and as Chairman of the Board of Advisors for the OU Energy Management Program.
Charles Hinojosa
Operations Manager
Mr. Hinojosa has over 10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry in operations and engineering. Mr. Hinojosa has served as the company’s Operations Manager since April 2019, directing the day-to-day operations, as well as having an active role in development, budgeting, and planning. Prior to joining the company, Mr. Hinojosa served as the Senior Production and Operations Engineer for Trinity Operating’s Eagle Ford asset where he was also involved in the horizontal development program and acquisition integration. Prior to that, Mr. Hinojosa was a Production Engineer for Sheridan Production Company from Aug. 2014 to Nov. 2017. With Sheridan, Mr. Hinojosa worked various roles of increasing responsibility across multiple assets and basins, including relevant operations and development experience in drilling and completions within Sheridan’s San Andres assets. Before joining Sheridan Production Company, Mr. Hinojosa worked as a field engineer for oil and gas service companies in production, facilities, and completion operations. Mr. Hinojosa holds a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from Texas Tech University.
Arvind Krishna
Director of Development and Reservoir Engineering
Mr. Krishna has over 14 years’ experience across a variety of technical, strategic and leadership roles in the oil and gas industry. Prior to joining the Company, from 2019 to 2021, Mr. Krishna served as the Director of Acquisitions and Divestitures for East Shore Investments, an independent energy company focused on acquiring and developing oil and gas assets in North America. From 2011 to 2019, Mr. Krishna worked on multiple field development and asset evaluation projects across all the major basins in the U.S. for Newfield Exploration. During his tenure at Newfield, Mr. Krishna lead the strategic planning for an international offshore project with CNOOC and deployed over $500 million in capital in Mid-Continent assets. From 2007 to 2011, Mr. Krishna worked as a Senior Reservoir Engineer for Schlumberger Oilfield Services, leading multiple reservoir management projects with major E&P companies and independent operators in North America, West Africa, and Australia. Mr. Krishna received his MS in Petroleum Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin in 2007 and his MBA from Rice University in 2016. Mr. Krishna is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma Honors Society and served as a board member for Grace After Fire (non-profit dedicated to Women Veterans) from 2016 to 2018.
William L. Boyd
CPL, Land & Regulatory Manager
Mr. Boyd has over fifteen years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Boyd served in various roles of increasing responsibility in privately held and publicly traded companies including A&D transactions, contract negotiations, personnel management, regulatory compliance and partner relations. Mr. Boyd has managed assets and regulatory requirements in 8 different states across the Powder River, DJ and Permian Basins, SCOOP/STACK, Haynesville, and others. Priorto joining PEDEVCO, Mr. Boyd served in various petroleum land management capacities with Vanguard Natural Resources (2018), Sheridan Production Company (2013-2018), WSH Land (2011-2013), and as Supply Chain Manager for an independent tubular supply firm (6 Years). Mr. Boyd holds a BA in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin and is an AAPL Certified Public Landman.
