Desmond Wheatley
Chief Executive Officer
Wheatley joined BEAM as a consultant in 2010 when it was Envision Solar, and has served as the Company’s CEO since 2011 and as Chairman of the Board since 2016. He has two decades of senior international management experience in technology systems integration, energy management, communications and renewable energy. He was a founding partner in the international consulting practice Crichton Hill LLC. Prior to Crichton Hill, Wheatley was CEO of iAxis FZ LLC, a Dubai based alternative energy and technology systems integration company. From 2000 to 2007, he held a variety of senior management positions at San Diego based Kratos Defense and Security Solutions, fka Wireless Facilities with the last five years as President of ENS, the largest independent security and energy management systems integrator in the USA. Prior to ENS, Wheatley held senior management positions in the cellular and broadband wireless industries, deploying infrastructure and lobbying in Washington DC on behalf of major wireless service providers. Wheatley has founded, funded and operated four profitable start-up companies and was previously engaged in M&A activities. Wheatley evaluated acquisition opportunities, conducted due diligence and raised commitments of $500M in debt and equity.
Katherine McDermott
Chief Financial Officer
Ms. McDermott is a seasoned financial executive with both Fortune 500 and small and medium-sized company experience. She has consistently contributed to growth in profitability while managing public offerings, acquisitions, and other strategic initiatives. Prior to her appointment at BEAM (formerly Envision Solar), she was the chief financial officer for Steico Industries, a subsidiary of global aerospace company Senior plc (LON: SNR). Prior to that, she served for 10 years as chief financial officer for LRAD Corporation (Nasdaq: LRAD), a directed sound technology company. She also served in leadership positions in the financial departments of National Pen, Lantronix, Inc. (Nasdaq: LTX), Bausch & Lomb and with a component division of General Motors. Ms. McDermott holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from St. Bonaventure University and an MBA from the William E. Simon School of Business Administration at the University of Rochester.
Sandra Peterson
Vice President, Sales and Marketing
Sandra Peterson brings 20 years of global technology marketing and business development experience in automotive technology, mobile, artificial intelligence and consumer electronics. Before joining BEAM (formerly Envision Solar) in early 2020, Ms. Peterson led the AI and go-to-market strategy at Absolutdata, a leading AI and analytics company. Prior to that, she held leadership roles at early stage startups and Fortune 500 companies including Apple, Nvidia, Adobe and Palm. Sandra holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Science from the University of California at San Diego, and a Master’s degree in International Business from St. Mary’s College of Moraga.
David Nacamu
Director of Operations
Davis Nacamu brings over 20 years of experience in engineering, operations, manufacturing and supply chain management with a successful track record in driving world class business initiatives, meeting customer delivery requirements, and exceeding financial performance objectives. As General Manager at metal fabricator and assembler, Fabrication Technologies Industries, Davis managed the plant and facilities to meet delivery, quality, and efficiency targets that opened doors to new growth. Serving as Director of Supply Chain at Vance & Hines, Mr. Nacamu led the supply chain initiatives and team to ensure optimal purchasing and inventory management practices were in place and operational. Davis has served as plant manager, industrial engineering manager, and manufacturing manager over the years to develop a depth of logistics expertise and lean manufacturing practices that will serve Beam’s growth trajectory well.
Mr. Nacamu is Six Sigma Green Belt certified with strong ERP systems experience. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from UC Berkely and earned his MBA from USC Marshall School of Business.
Bryan Kennard
Chief Applications Engineer
Bryan Kennard is the Chief Applications Engineer at BEAM (formerly Envision Solar). Bryan has spent four years improving and perfecting the EV ARC™ product and creating code, monitoring and electrical engineering solutions for the products. Prior to joining BEAM Bryan was a data engineer for Capital One. Bryan received his Bachelor of Engineering degree at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
