What Should You Do During the "Dog Days of Summer?"
Relax or Work?
Typically, most of us in the capital markets space enjoy the latter part of the summer as a slight breather from the craziness we experience the rest of the year.
To save you the trouble of Googling it yourself, here is where the "Dog Days of Summer" saying comes from:
The ancient Romans called the hottest, most humid days of summer “diēs caniculārēs" or “dog days." The name came about because they associated the hottest days of summer with the star Sirius. Sirius was known as the “Dog Star" because it was the brightest star in the constellation Canis Major (Large Dog).
My advice would be a combination of some well-earned time off and some prep for the post-Labor Day madness. If you're like me, you have trouble pulling yourself away from work. But, this year, I am going to enjoy the lull. I wish you a happy "Dog Days of Summer" and hope you find your own balance between relaxing and working.
