Mike Calise
President, Americas
Mike is an experienced executive leader with a successful history of accelerating early-stage efficiency businesses. He has deep experience in electric vehicle (EV) charging hardware, software, solutions, business models, clean transportation strategies, and digital customer experience.
In January 2020, Mike was appointed President of the Americas for Tritium, a global powerhouse and technology leader in DC fast charging solutions. Tritium’s mission is to provide energy freedom to the masses by deploying DC charging everywhere including city-to-city corridors and inner-city high-density populations and smart cities. Based in Torrance, CA, Mike is responsible for promoting and developing Tritium’s market share in the USA.
Mike is presently a Board member of Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI) affiliate start-up company NeoCharge, a home-charging device company that reduces charging costs for homeowners while reducing utility costs for transformer upgrades. He also advises for privately held start-up AmpUp that delivers OCPP software to optimize charging schedules and manage charging energy in commercial and residential applications for AC and DC charging.
Mike previously served as Blink Charging Co’s Chief Executive Officer where he was responsible for the company’s transition and NASDAQ’s listing (NASDAQ:BLNK) in February 2018. He served on Blink’s Board of Directors, was a Senior Vice President responsible for mergers and acquisitions activity and strategy, and additionally held the position of Interim Chief Financial Officer. Blink Charging is a leading EV service provider that owns and operates, manufactures, and sells EV charging stations and services globally.
Prior to Blink, Mike was the Head of North America Electric Vehicle Solutions at Schneider Electric, a world leader in energy management and energy efficiency. While at Schneider, he led a diverse team and was responsible for the EV business unit’s profit and loss, strategy, product, sales/marketing, channel development, and digital customer experience. He was influential in Schneider’s Smart Cities and building and home energy management strategy and was responsible for taking the EV Charging business from its infancy to one of the top contenders in North America.
Prior to Schneider Electric, in 2010 Mike was the founder and principal of EVadvise, an independent advisory firm focused on mass-scale EV infrastructure. He is the lead author of Electrify Your Business, a guide to deploying EV charging in commercial businesses sponsored by the Silicon Valley Leadership Group (SVLG), and Bay Area Climate Council (BACC), and he is a contributing author of California’s Ready, Set, Charge!. Mike developed the Electric Vehicle Charging Technology Plan for Marin Transportation Authority (MTA) in Marin County, CA.
Starting his career at Intel Corp, Mike has held various semiconductor, computer and software-related sales and executive positions as president, GM and EVP. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of New York at Buffalo, and is or has been a member of the IEEE, Cleantech.org, Plug In America, and the Electric Auto Association. Mike held board seats on the Electric Drive Transportation Association (EDTA) and the Bay Area Climate Council (BACC) EV Strategic Council. He also served a four-year public service term as Chairperson and Commissioner of the Transportation and Parking Commission in Los Gatos, California.
Mike continues to provide advice for several private equity investors and cleantech start-ups in transportation, energy, and micro-grid technologies, all focused on aiding mass-scale EV adoption.
